How do I place a hold on a card?

Securely place holds on cards, then capture or release the payment at a later time. This pre-authorization of cards can be achieved using the 'Authorize Only' mode on the charge page.


Here's how:

  1. Update the ChargeStripe app to the latest version.


  2. Enter the payment value and press 'Charge' to select the payment method on the next page.

  1. Tap the "Authorize Only" switch (toggle).
On the Payments page, you can pre-authroize the transaction upto 7 days

  1. To capture or release the payment, open the "Previous Transactions" menu.


  2. Tap the authorized transaction to choose to capture (collect) the payment or release (refund) it.

After completing an authorized payment, you have up to 7 days to process or cancel the payment, otherwise, it will automatically be reversed/refunded to your customer. 
The number of days to hold the payment cannot be extended from more than 7 days.
